Since my wife’s knee surgery, I have had to pick up more slack around the house than normal. There is good and bad that can be viewed by my additional duties around the house.
The good part that comes from my additional duties is that it is obvious that I need to help my wife around the house more. As a part of taking care of my family, I put my career at the top of my priorities. Although my work will be a high priority I have seen that I need to focus on more balance between my career and my family.
The bad part is that there are going to be changes around the house. I am a firm believer that we have children to spoil them, but it is our responsibility as parents to teach our children responsibility and accountability. Both my boys try hard in school but can do a better job of picking up after themselves around the house. The only other bad part is that our home is going to have to be more organized because the way it is now is killing me. You have heard the saying that opposites attract, that is my wife and I. I am very deliberate and organized and my wife works under chaotic organization. She knows where everything is but no-one else can find anything.
Since my wife’s surgery I have been fixing her enough food over the weekend for her to warm up lunch for her and the boys while I am working. I purchased Rubbermaid’s Food Storage Containers to portion her food for the week. These Food Storage Containers keep the food fresh and they appear to be spill proof.
