Homemade Banana Ice-cream

Summer is officially here for my family!  We have a family tradition of making homemade ice-cream for my wife on Mother’s Day.  Since my wife recently had major knee surgery and did not feel good on Mother’s Day, we made her homemade ice-cream on Memorial Day.

When we first moved to Texas we bought a cheaper plastic homemade ice-cream maker from a popular Super Center Store.  It took  FOREVER to get the ice-cream to set up here in Texas.  Two years ago I had to try a different homemade ice-cream maker.  We bought an Aroma Homemade Ice-cream Maker and each year the homemade ice-cream sets up in approximately 30 minutes.

After preparing and mixing the best homemade banana ice-cream recipe you could ever make, you have to start by adding ice and plenty of rock salt to get the ice-cream cold enough to set up.

After the ice-cream maker stops churning, we always pack the container with ice and insulate it with towels.

And the Homemade Ice-cream is Ready!

Life is what you make it, get out of the house and off the couch.  It is the little things like making homemade ice-cream on a warm summer morning that are special and where memories are made, even if it takes a couple of summers to get the recipe and process correct.
