This morning started off bad. I use my cell phone as an alarm, I did not plug my phone into the charger correctly and my phone battery went completely down; therefore, my alarm did not go off to wake me up. I typically get up at 4:30 AM to get ready for work and I over slept 2 hours!
We keep our dog in the laundry room at night, since I did not get up on time she made a mess that had to be cleaned up before going to work. Once I let the dog outside, I went to get her some dog food and a brand new 40 lb bag of dog food dropped all over the garage floor. Of course that mess had to wait to be cleaned up later.
Ok I am 2 hours late for work and I am on my way. I live in a suburb just outside of Houston, Tx and I hit the morning rush hour traffic. An hour commute just turned into a 2 hour drive to work. Once I get to work I realize I left my laptop and all my work files at home. I went to tell my boss about my mess up after showing up late. I told him we could take 4 hours out of my vacation time to make up for my inefficiency. Thank goodness he said go home and work out of the house. He did not want me to round trip my commute to the office.
I did not complete my work until 6 PM. Since my wife just had knee surgery and cannot put any weight on her knee, I started dinner. I fired up the grill to cook hamburgers quickly. I had just purchased a full bottle of propane this last Saturday and I could not get the grill higher than 25o degrees. I did not think much about it, I thought I would just cook them a little longer. I left the burgers on the grill about an hour and 15 minutes and when we bit into the burgers, they were not completely cooked. We threw them out and we micro-waved hotdogs.
Although today was a horrible day and everything I touched was a complete disaster, I cannot remember having a day where everything I touched just fell apart. When I sat down, after cleaning up the kitchen and putting a load of clothes in the wash, my 2 boys were laying on the couch and my wife was on her laptop in the recliner working on her blog. My youngest was already sleeping and my oldest is about asleep. After messing everything up I touched today, my family is fed, clean and safe. Remember when your patience are worn thin and you may have a very bad day, that your circumstances can always be worse. As long as your family is healthy, fed and safe, you have had a good day.
